COMPUTATIONAL TOOLS FOR CHEMISTS

The certificate course on ‘Computational Tools for Chemists’ is designed to equip M.Sc. Chemistry students with practical knowledge and computational skills in modern chemistry software widely used in teaching, research, pharmaceuticals, chemical industries, and material sciences. The course aims to enhance students' competence in molecular visualization, chemical structure drawing, computational chemistry, spectral analysis, data processing, scientific writing, and research communication using professional and open-source software tools. On successful completion of the course, students will be able to use chemistry's softwares' for molecular design, computational chemistry, spectral interpretation, data analysis, and scientific writing. These competencies support careers in research laboratories, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, materials science, environmental analysis, forensic science, and higher education. The course also provides a strong foundation for research projects, dissertations, and doctoral studies, aligning with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to enhance digital literacy, interdisciplinary learning, and employability.

The course aims to:

1. Introduce students to modern chemistry software used in academics and industry.

2. Develop computational and data analysis skills.

3. Train students in molecular visualization and computational chemistry.

4. Enhance scientific writing and graphical presentation skills.

5. Prepare students for research and industrial applications.

Upon successful completion, students will be able to:

1. Draw and edit chemical structures.

2. Visualize molecules in 3D and analyze molecular geometry.

3. Perform basic molecular modeling and computational calculations.

4. Interpret spectral data using chemistry software.

5. Analyze experimental data statistically.

6. Prepare publication-quality chemical schemes and graphs
